Listen Responsibly Sometimes you need all your senses while riding your bicycle. Automobile traffic is unforgiving in most cases and it is up to the bicycle rider to watch out for the other guys. Make sure you are in a situation where you are aware of your surroundings at all times. Sometimes you want to hear what's going on around you. Riding a bike is a great way to listen to the quiet sounds around you, particularly when you are away from traffic. Sometimes, however, it is great to ride or walk to your favorite music or a new author or Podcast. Listen responsibly and make the most of your time outside. Sometimes It's The Law Some states have actually enacted laws that prohibit having earplugs or headphones in both ears while riding. States where we know such laws are on the books are California, Florida and Virginia. This does not mean that there are not similar laws in other states, provinces or countries. If you are in doubt, by all means, you should check with your local law enforcement office for direction before you decide to ride while listening.
